Weather conditions can sometimes result in bus cancellations while the school building remains open. Below is an outline of what families and students can expect on these days.
If Buses Are Cancelled but the School Remains Open
Grades 7-8 (Elementary)
-
The school remains open for students in Grades 7 and 8 who can arrive safely.
-
If your child is a walker and will not be attending school, a parent/guardian must notify the school for safety and attendance purposes:
-
Students who are registered as 5-day bus riders will be automatically marked absent with the code “Buses Cancelled” (no penalty).
-
Students who reside in more than one household and are bus riders on some days and walkers on others are considered walkers and therefore must notify the school if they are absent.
Grades 9–12 (Secondary)
On bus cancellation days, secondary students will transition to online learning for the day.
-
Students are expected to log in to their regularly scheduled classes at the usual times.
-
Attendance will be taken during each synchronous (live) online class.
-
Students with internet access are expected to participate from home.
-
Students who can safely travel to the school and require internet access may report to JDSS and work in the cafeteria only.
Parents/guardians of Secondary students do not need to call the school regarding attendance. Students who are present online will be marked “Present.”
As always, families will determine whether travel to the school is safe.
